Jake Wightman, an Olympic athlete who represented Great Britain at the 2020 Tokyo Games, has joined calls for a bridge crossing where the Downs Link meets the A281.

Like many other runners he uses the Downs Link for training purposes but finds the dangerous road crossing disrupts his routine.

“It breaks up my momentum in having to stop at the crossing for a short period of time, which can be frustrating. However, the speed and quantity of traffic along this road means I cannot afford to take a risk.”

“I fully support the ‘Bridge the Downs Link’ campaign and I am sure I am speaking on behalf of many fellow runners.”
