Sarah Sharp, West Sussex County Councillor for Chichester South Division, joins the growing number of politicians calling for WSCC to “act quickly” to make the dangerous crossing safe for future generations.
Sarah says: “A bridge is clearly the solution that keeps as many people as possible safe whether they walk, cycle or ride horses.”
No stranger to the dangers faced cycling on our roads, Sarah was badly injured herself in a collision with a car in 2015 and is acutely aware of the risks to people when inadequately protected from motor traffic.
“It doesn’t seem right that WSCC and others are promoting the Downs Link given the inherent danger related to this crossing. A route is only as good as its weakest link. In this case the weakest link is life-threatening.”
