The Rudgwick Preservation Society has joined calls for a bridge over the A281 to “make the crossing safe for all users.”
Roger Nash, chairman of the group, said they organise walks along the Downs Link on summer evenings but in recent years have no longer feel able to use the crossing because of the danger from the traffic on the road.
“The number of people both pedestrians and cyclists using the trail has increased during the last year or two. It is wrong that they feel inhibited in walking/cycling/riding from the village towards Slinfold.”
